The definition of
Regulation-Free-Special-Zone It is defined as an area to which special regulations are applied to foster innovative projects or strategic industries in metropolitan governments excluding the urban area in accordance with the 'Regulatory Special Cases Act on Regulation-Free-Special-Zones and Special Regional Development Zones'.

Background

It is a Korean regulatory sandbox that allows companies that possess new technologies due to various regulations in the past, but were limited in pursuing business opportunities, to promote new businesses without related regulations. It is structured to enable the development and verification of new technologies and new product launches through a regulation- free-special-zone.

Designation of the Regulation-Free-Special-Zone

Excluding the metropolitan area, mayors and/or provincial governors established special zone plans and applied for designation of regulation-free-special-zone to foster regional innovative growth projects or regional strategic industries according to local conditions and characteristics.

The Benefits of designation

Innovative regulatory special cases, such as a menu board type regulatory special and a set of three types of regulatory innovation (regulatory sandbox), are applied, and financial, tax, and various burden reductions are also supported for the success of regional innovation growth projects.
